CAN YOU HANDLE IT?

This Friday at the The Bell House, The New Yorker will be holding its Festival featuring the House of Ladosha. The festival will be presenting "Brooklyn Playlist", a concert highlighting some of the best of the borough’s music scene, curated by our staff writers Sasha Frere-Jones and Kelefa Sanneh. The New Yorker asked Sasha and Kelefa to tell us a little about the musicians they chose. Below, you’ll find a cunt response, along with a track.

SASHA: House of Ladosha’s Adam Radakovich—known in the group as Cunty Crawford Ladosha—describes a typical performance as “an explosion of glamour and terror.” (This interview from ’Sup Magazine will give you an idea of how glamorous and terrifying.) The group describes its sound as a “dark/crunk plethora of music,” that draws on “ ‘Paris Is Burning,’ popular culture, fashion icons, female rap artists, and gay city living.” Radakovich will be joined onstage by bandmates Dosha Devastation (Antonio Blair) and Golisha Nomi Simone LaDosha (Ojay Morgan). If things go well, people may want to learn more about the ball culture depicted in “Paris Is Burning.” If things go really well, someone will stomp out and leave us a sternly worded note in the comments box.
