You'd think the world is catching up.. today is brighter then yesterday.. people's minds are opening.. but then some bullshit smacks you in the face and your reminded why you do the things you do. why you RAGE like you do. Make the art you do. Surround yourself with the people you do. Go OFF on the situations you do - -
What's the back story to me ranting? - On sunday at the B.O.M.B. Fest 2011 | at The Comcast Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut Big Freedia was in the line up to perform with Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa. In short they got bottles thrown at them and booed off the stage. Now... somethings ain't for everybody and I get that but the homophobic, ignorant charged reasons behind why this went down is the problem.
Big Freedia is a movement. A dance floor, a stage, a drunken house party where people from all backgrounds, life styles, cultures can come together and... shake their asses lol. Have fun. Be reminded that weather you like to watch or shake no one is a stranger to the good time of "Azz EVERYWHERE" -BUT... Ignorance, racism, homophobia, sexism are FAR from being erased from the American pallet. Sad that as much people that present themselves as "left of center" to you there are still 1,000s of people who stand proud in there ignorance that actually make the majority.
We've got a LONG way to go.
