That thing where your friends from Spanish speaking counties are CONVINCED that they are "white" here in the states too ... #Gurlplease

It has come to my attention TIME AND TIME AGAIN that, I'll bump into this conversation of "ethnicity" and willingness to be refereed to as a "person of color" from foreigners as negative specifically with people of Spanish speaking countries. Now I have gone to a hand full of Spanish speaking countries and seen how in other countries the ides of race and ethnicity are more bound to relate to implications of "class", which is fine. However once you come here, to America, and are immersed in American culture it's funny to run into this conversation with Upper and Middle class Spanish speaking individuals whom, have nothing against it -- at least that's what they SAY... (raises eyebrow..) --, but have nothing to do with these "people of color" and in a country where although the definition of white is open but relatively rigid, self identify as "white". According to US CENSUS things get more complicated when you delve into it but essentially if your from a Spanish speaking country ..... U AIN'T WHITE, not here. SORRY GURL. This "White Hispanic and Latino American" category in America is indeed real but ... pretty shock VALUE. no T no SHADE.

And WHAT'S THE PROBLEM ANY WAY .. LAST TIME I CHECKED THE PRESIDENT OF the United States is BLACK, Beyonce is BLACK, shiiiiiiiiit BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL.
