News Break: Arrest Made in MARTA Attack of Two Transgender Women Caught on Tape

A video went viral last week of two men harassing and attacking two transgender women while riding the MARTA transit system in Atlanta.
“They were trying to find out if we are men or women,” said Tyra Woods. “I shouldn’t have to disclose who I am to an innocent person who I’m not even interested in talking to.”
Crosby and Woods say they were harassed, attacked and embarrassed, and no one came to give them any help.
“I really didn’t want to fight, but he just kicked me and tried to make a big scene,” said Crosby.
The argument turned physical when one of the men threw a kick. Once the kick was thrown, the two women let loose and beat their harassers down.
We’re happy to report that the MARTA police have arrested the two men responsible.
Frederick L. Missick and Luther L. Thomas (above) were charged with disorderly conduct and have been suspended from the transit service.
Although the brawl was taped by other passengers, MARTA officials say the investigation was made much more difficult because no one wanted to come forward.
Missick, 35, was arrested today, according to jail records. Thomas, 34, was arrested Thursday. Both are being held at the Fulton County Jail on $2,500 bond.
Jail records show that Thomas has been arrested twice before by MARTA police. In December 2005, on charges of simple battery, theft by taking and criminal reproduction and sale of recorded material.
